To extend the lifespan of conveyor belts, repair strips and adhesive are essential for maintenance

The repair strips are used for bonding the damaged areas, while the adhesive ensures the connection between the strips and the belt. Only when these two components work together can optimal repair results be achieved.
The effectiveness of conveyor belt repairs largely depends on the quality of the repair strips and adhesives, though on-site construction techniques are equally crucial. High-quality repair strips and adhesives not only achieve the purpose of belt repair but also help extend the belt's service life. Therefore, careful selection of repair strips and adhesives is essential.
Selection of repair strips
For repair strips, it is recommended to choose the CN-layered strips currently most commonly used in the market. Compared to ordinary repair strips, these offer stronger adhesion and better bonding performance after repair. CVUL repair strips are a typical example of this type.
The surface of the repair strip is coated with a slip-resistant and wear-resistant rubber layer, while the bonding surface features a blue CN semi-vulcanized layer. After applying adhesive, it undergoes a self-vulcanizing chemical reaction with the adhesive, allowing the adhesive to fuse into the bonding surface of the repair strip. This further enhances the bonding strength between the repair strip and the conveyor belt, effectively preventing cracking after repair.
Selection of Adhesive
The repair adhesive for conveyor belts must be a cold vulcanized adhesive capable of chemically reacting with the repair strips. In addition to its faster bonding speed compared to ordinary adhesives, its bonding strength far exceeds that of conventional adhesives. The most commonly used conveyor belt repair adhesive in major mining and industrial sectors is CVUL cold vulcanized adhesive CV2000.
Cold vulcanizing adhesive CV2000, after mixing, can increase the curing speed to over three times that of ordinary adhesives, significantly accelerating the entire conveyor belt repair process. The adhesive has passed stringent German DIN industrial standards, offering the same bonding strength as hot vulcanizing adhesives. Additionally, it possesses flame-retardant properties, preventing spontaneous combustion, and is suitable for use in coal mine environments.
